Solar energy is a renewable source that is essential as a power source and cannot be ignored as the most clean and green power systems. These benefits of solar energy can be classified under three major groupings namely, environmental , economic and social . This article addresses the essential benefits that can be derived vs the myths that surrounds the facts.

1) The First Myth Solar power systems is not for ordinary people. It is only the rich people who have significant resources that will benefit from their usage.

The Economic Facts: If you want to improve on your electric bills by saving on money and even make you money in the long run, then it would be best to have solar panels on your house by making this investment. You’ll cut your electricity bill, and government will give you the rebates, tax breaks and incentives and even the financing to have your solar panels installed and the costs can be reasonable which will pay itself back between 3-20 years over its lifetime.

Solar power systems will generate energy on site which reduces or eliminate the need for large complex distribution and power infrastructure lines. This system is long term and has no moving parts, requires little maintenance . It is not subject to price increase since power from the sun is free and if you are using the grid , you can even make money by supplying the excess power from your house to the grid. This is called net metering. 2) The Second Myth : Solar panels would require maintenance and complex tracking systems to take advantage of the position of the sun.

The Environmental Facts: Solar panels don’t have moving parts, and they don’t have maintenance procedures . You can just let the rain or water to clean off panels to make it optimally functional . You can have the roof analyzed for proper placement of your solar panels so that you can reap the maximum energy from the right direction and exposure from the sun. Solar panels are quiet .clean and even aesthetically beautiful when placed in the right direction. They do not have create pollutions, noiseless unlike other forms of power systems and does not add to the greenhouse effect in the environment. In fact people have used solar panel systems anywhere in Asia, Europe , USA and all parts of the globe. You might say that solar panels are global in its application. 3) The Third Myth : Future Generations will not benefit directly from the use of solar panels because it will take a long time for the technology to catch up and be adopted as commercially acceptable.

The Social Facts: Solar panel technology has been making great strides in terms of its efficiency and its cost. For the past decade the energy coming from the usage of solar panels have increased to as much as 15 to 20% of the energy absorption coming from the sun and will continue to improve for the next coming years. Solar energy is a renewable energy that will help the energy requirements of future generations and even offers a clean , sustainable energy source that will eliminate most of the ill effects of oil, gas, and other forms of energy such as sulfur gases, nitric acids and even acid rains and carbon footprints . It can cut down on foreign raw materials of oil and gas and create a stable source of energy for our power needs. It is generated and can be used on site and does not need any distribution requirements.

Whatever the myths surrounding solar energy adoption and usage , there are ways to eliminate or remove the myths and once the myths are gone, you can start to enjoy the many benefits of solar energy by knowing the facts and by learning how to make use of this knowledge.
